🧠 What We’re Learning
📖 English
We will be reading Meerkat Mail 🐾📖. The children will learn to retell the story orally using the past tense and will begin to use a wider range of story language, including connectives such as after that and eventually.
They will then write their own version of the story by changing the setting, using their imagination and applying their writing skills 📝✨
📚 Reading
Reading continues to be a very important part of our learning. Your child will bring a reading book home on a Wednesday, which should be returned the following Monday.
It is important that children read regularly at home and that you talk to them about what they have read to support their understanding. Please remember to sign their reading record, as this helps children to earn rewards in class ⭐
🔢 Mathematics
We will be developing our understanding of number within 100, including:
- Making doubles
- Making equal groups (grouping and sharing)
- Recognising and finding a half and a quarter
- Partitioning numbers within 100
- Comparing and ordering numbers within 100
- Finding one more and one less
The children will take part in practical activities and games to support their understanding and build confidence 🎲
✝️RE
Our theme is “What does it mean to belong to a community of belief?”
We will explore places of worship, including their features and artefacts, and learn about the rituals and practices that take place there. The children will also begin to understand the importance of belonging to a community and what this means for different people.
🦒Topic
We will be learning about Malawi, exploring its location, landscape, animals and people. The children will compare life in Malawi with life in the UK.
In Design and Technology, we will be making a fruit and vegetable smoothie 🍓🥤
In Computing, we will be collecting and recording data 💻📊
🥇 P.E. Information
PE days are Tuesday and Friday.
Children must come to school in their PE kit on both days 👟.
If your child wears earrings, please remove them before school or provide plasters. Staff cannot remove earrings for children.
We will be working with a sports coach to develop our skills in athletics and will also take part in a range of field games. The children will build their coordination, teamwork and confidence in physical activity 💪
