Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
Welcome to our SEND Information Page
At Lowerhouses CE Primary School, we believe every child is unique, valued, and capable of achieving great things. Our approach to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is rooted in inclusion, compassion, and ambition. We work closely with families, professionals, and our wider school community to ensure each child receives the right support at the right time.
Whether your child already has identified needs or you are concerned about their development, this page will help you understand how we support children with SEND and how you can access help.

🌈 Our SEND Vision
We are committed to ensuring that all pupils:
- Feel safe, valued, and included
- Receive high‑quality teaching tailored to their needs
- Have access to the full curriculum
- Develop confidence, independence, and resilience
- Flourish socially, emotionally, and academically
We follow the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Kirklees Local Offer, ensuring support is consistent, fair, and child‑centred.
🧩 What is SEND?
A child is considered to have SEND if they require additional or different support from the majority of their peers to access learning.
The four areas of need identified in the Code of Practice are:
- Communication and Interaction
- Cognition and Learning
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Sensory and/or Physical Needs
Children may have needs in more than one area.
